Kat finds glitter in Paradise...

So apart from the mossies bites, well, I reckon the mossies have found Paradise themselves what with me coming to stay. The rate i'm clocking them up... I'm taking them for my husband too I'd say. So, yes, apart from the mossie bites, we have finally found our Paradise...

We had an unscheduled night in St Vincent, due to previous mentioned faulty plane (smoke coming from engine, never a good sign). SVG were very good and looked after us well... flying us (admittedly 4 hours later) to an island nearer to Bequia, and putting us up in a fabulous hotel on the beach, also paid for our dinner (cocktails!) and breakfast (pancakes, yum). We stayed up as late as we could manage but at 10pm local time (3am uk time, and we'd been up since 6am) we passed out under the mossie nets in the balmy heat, woken only a few times in the night by the sound of the tropical rain on the rooftops.

SVG flew us out of St Vincent the next morning, and we ended up having a tour of all the local islands as people hopped on and off at each airport... highlight was the 45 degree angle the plane came in at to Union Island down over the mountains. It's times like these you really do just hope the guys up front know what they're doing... meanwhile all sorts of James Bond / Indiana Jones / Jason Bourne 'leaping from plane' scenarios play through my head...

Anyhow, finally we arrived in Bequia at our Pink House and so the exploring began! The snorkelling has been fab, just off the beaches here we've managed to see eels (Alex's fave) and octopus, and such pretty Angel fish, box fish (Tom, reminded me of Borneo!) and this super special blue fish which has bright blue dots which look just like glitter... Ooooooo, yes, definitely my fave!

Today we went to Tobago Cays (see pic!), which was a speed boat trip away (another fave moment for Alex!), a gorgeous reef of about 7 miles with little islands dotted along. We swam with Hawksbill turtles which was fabulous, and then along the reef... The reef itself wasn't as colourful as one would hope for but the fish were! The highlight here was a huge school of blue angel fish, sooooo pretty! Slight downside of the trip is that I now have a very fetching tan line around where my mask was. Oh yes. Most attractive!

And tomorrow we have diving booked (thank you to Margot!), it'll be Alex's first ever dive, so very exciting times!

Off for a G&T... I think it was my Grandpa who used to say they kept the mossies away... well, if I must ;)

Much love x x x

  1. The mosquitoes used to like Grandpa, so I'm not sure that the G&T kept them away, but it's a good excuse! Cheers! Enjoy paradise and the diving. With love Deb x
